Internet gambling has been a legally regulated activity in the Canadian province of British Columbia for over a decade, having launched the provincially run PlayNow.com in 2004. It wasn’t until 2012 that BC officials authorized the inclusion of an online sportsbook on its sole iGaming operation, choosing Paddy Power to provide the B2B software. Now, it’s clear that the Ireland-based bookmaker was a solid choice for PlayNow as the BCLC has renewed its contract with Paddy Power.
Clearly endowed with the ‘Luck o’ the Irish’, the live and online bookmaker has been perfecting its trade since the 1980’s, since engaging in the field of interactive sports betting, casino gambling, poker and bingo games. With an esteemed reputation for security, integrity and global popularity, the company was an easy choice for the British Columbia Lottery Corporation when it chose Paddy Power as the best candidate to supply its fixed-odds betting platform on PlayNow. The decision to renew that partnership took little persuasion from either side.
Announced earlier this month in a press release, the extended collaboration will see Paddy Power continue to provide its prime choice, B2B sports betting technology on the Canadian online gambling site for several years to come.
“It’s fantastic that we will be continuing our partnership with BCLC,” said Paddy Power’s Cian Murphy, Head of B2B Services. “The Paddy Power sports product is among the most advanced in the world and the growth BCLC has seen over the last three years has been considerable.
“We are proud to have been part of that and are looking forward to continuing to work with BCLC over the coming years,” Murphy concluded.
Monica Bohm, Vice President of Interactive Gambling at BCLC, was equally enthused by the continued collaboration. ”Paddy Power’s expertise has helped BCLC’s PlayNow.com evolve its sportsbook into a competitive offering that provides the best possible sports betting experience in a regulated environment.”
In closing, Bohm stated, “We look forward to continuing this relationship and future growth in this segment.”
Paddy Power joins World Lottery Association
In related news, Paddy Power was proud to announce its acceptance into the highly esteemed World Lottery Association (WLA). The company’s acceptance as an associate member of the WLA signifies the company’s veracity and responsibility in the interactive sports betting industry.
“The World Lottery Association is recognised as the global authority on the lottery business,” explained Murphy. “It’s great to get accepted into this organisation and it shows our dedication to expanding our business providing sports betting services to the lottery industry. We believe that the success we have seen with BCLC can be replicated with other lotteries.”
Paddy Power expands into Spanish Market
Last but not least, Paddy Power also heralded its upcoming entrance into the Spanish online gambling market. The Irish bookmaker will be supplying its online sports betting software for the “fast growing” Spanish online gaming operator, RETA (Retabet.es).
“Our B2B partnership with Paddy is the next step to continue with our leadership in the Retail channel in Spain and will for sure put our fast growing online product in the top positions,” said RETA Group CEO Xabier Rodriguez-Maribona. “RETA and its regional partners are the multichannel reference of the Spanish market and we are constantly willing to improve our offer to attract new clients and improve the return for our shareholders and partners.”
